Can You Major in Geology at EOU?

The answer is no and yes! We offer a minor in geology which consists of GEOL 201, 202 and 203 plus 15 credits of upper division geology courses, but there is no major in geology at EOU. Some students take their introductory courses and sometimes some upper division courses and then transfer to places like the University of Oregon, Portland State University, Oregon State University, the University of Idaho or Boise State University. A number of other students have elected to pursue geology through Eastern's Liberal Studies Major, which allows you to combine two fields (for example, geology and geography, geology and biology, or geology and art, etc.).

If you are interested in transferring, make sure you sign up for GEOL 201, 202 and 203 and get a good solid background in physics and mathematics (calculus) as early as you can.
