CONFIDENTIALITY OF SERVICES
All information shared with our office is confidential. In order to receive services, you must make your needs known to us and provide valid documentation (within the last three years) of your disability. Records on disabled students are kept to a minimum, and for counselors' use only. This information cannot be released to individuals or other departments without the written consent of the student
Accommodations
The accommodations that the Disablilty Services provides are notetakers, tutors, study partners, proctors for testing, extended test time, segragated testing, full time lab assistants, software in assisting you, such as Dragonspeak, Kurzweil 3000 and Plextalk. Books on Tape, which readers are hired to do this. All of these accommodations are very helpful to students that struggle with tests, taking notes, or just need someone to help them in studying.
HOW TO GET YOUR SERVICES STARTED
In order to achieve academic services through our office you will need to come in for an appointment. You will be interviewed about your academic needs, and oriented to our program and the services we provide. Your initial meeting will take approximately half an hour. It is important that you bring your valid documentation of your disability with you at this time as services cannot be started without it.
Please plan your visit accordingly. We want to provide quality time and services. Scheduling an appointment ahead of time is suggested. We look forward to meeting with you and hope that we may participate in a successful university experience.
