email: hprice@eou.edu
Lesson Time: as arranged
Performance Class: Friday, 2:00-3:00
Office Hours: M 11-12; 2-3; T Th 1-2
Course Requirements:
1) In addition to attendance of all private lessons, each student is expected to attend the weekly performance class held in Groth Recital Hall, Fridays at 2:00. This class affords the opportunity for students to perform for each other, as well as providing a forum for discussion of such topics as practice habits, technical concepts and solutions, performance strategies, stage fright, memorization, etc. We will look at a number books on pedagogy, technique and performance written by distinguished performers and teachers in the field.
2) All students are required to attend at least 3 concerts during the term, and short reports on each concert are due before the end of term.
3) A journal should be kept by each student throughout the term. Rather than being a practice log, the journal should contain a write-up of each lesson--what are the expectations of the teacher at each lesson and how can those expectations best be met. What successes and challenges do you meet in your practicing during the week?
4) A short report on a given book, video, article or web-site, as it applies to your own work , is due before the end of term.
