EMT
Education Fund
There is approximately $120,000 available for a December 1, 2007 award cycle. Please note there is a NEW application and it must be used or your application will be returned to you.
The EMT Education
Fund is intended to help small Oregon communities support
the education and certification of Emergency Medical
Technicians and First Responders.
Who Is
Eligible?
A priority list, shown below, guides the distribution of grants from the EMT Education Fund. Priority will be given to applications which are regional requests (for example: training requests which benefit multiple communities and/or multiple service providers in a region). Applications are prioritized and funded in the order shown below.
- Priority 1: Certification education for new EMT Basics or Intermediates
- Priority 2: Continuing education for EMT Basics or Intermediates
- Priority 3: Certification education for new First Responders
Not all
applications will be funded. A statewide review
committee will review only complete applications
and can choose to deny applications for the purpose of
extending the funding to primarily volunteer and rural
isolated agencies.
In May, 2003 a
decision was made to require all students or their
agencies to "co-pay" part of the education.
The expected "co-pay" will be $50 for each student for Basic, Intermediate and continuing education classes, and a $25 "co-pay" for First Responder classes. The purpose of the "co-pay" is to help the funding to reach more applicants, AND to help agencies make sure they are recruiting committed volunteers.
Travel
Reimbursement:
The EMT Education Funds Review Committee may choose not to award travel funds for this special award cycle, OR they may choose to reduce the limit on the amount of travel awarded. A decision about this will be made after the Committee reviews the total dollar requests for the bridge classes. If you are awarded funds, your award letter will clearly state the travel decision
IF travel funds are awarded, then the following paragraph will apply:
Once your class is completed, students from your
agency can apply for travel reimbursement. Required
information will be: (1) documentation of successful
completion of the course; (2) completion of a travel
reimbursement form (please see the Forms page). The
agency or individuals will be compensated for not more
than (amount to be determined but not more than $200) per vehicle for mileage costs associated with
the educational program(s). Carpooling is strongly
encouraged to extend the availability of funds for all
participants. Reimbursement request forms will be sent at
the time the funding application is approved. Please note
that no travel reimbursement is provided for attending a
conference.
When to Apply
for Educational Funds
December 1, 2007 is the deadline, but allow yourself plenty of time, as your application will be returned to you if it is incomplete! It will take approximately 20 days after the deadline before you will be notified of your funding
status.
