The School of Nursing in partnership with Grande Ronde Hospital and the Commission on Children and Families administer the Healthy Start program.

Healthy Start services are free thanks to a grant from the Oregon and Union County Commission on Children and Families. Any family in Union County who is expecting or caring for their first baby can receive Healthy Start Services.

Healthy Start can provide information on:

  • Infant Care
  • Parenting Skills
  • Nutrition
  • Community Resources
  • Child Care
  • Support Group
  • Child Growth and Development
  • Infant Massage
  • Baby Sign Language

All first birth families receive:

  • Home visit by a trained Family Support Worker
  • List of community resources for parents
  • Child development information
  • Continued parenting support
  • Welcome Home Gifts
  • Nursing Assessment
