2-hour Morning Session--choose from:

  • Lisa Bushman (La Grande) "Literature Circles"--Integrating reading, writing, and speaking in an authentic Book Club format to increase comprehension, extended understanding, and text analysis, along with interest.
  • Janet Scoubes (Elgin) "Out of the English Classroom"--Often the English teacher feels responsible for teaching writing in sciences and social sciences. Oh, my goodness, Oh, my goodness!

2-hour Afternoon Session--choose from:

  • Tammy Blanchard (Nyssa) "Statewide Assessment & the Dimensions of Writing"--We'll look at the dimensions of writing as they apply to papers that are "on the fence" between a 3 and a 4. What's a teacher to do?
  • Donald Wolff (EOU) "New Approaches to Grammar"--Everybody talks about grammar, but no one does anything about it. Let's explore alternatives to the "red pencil" that will enhance student writing.
