--Application Process & Requirements--

The Institute is open to classroom teachers, K-16. Interested teachers should contact the OWP Director for an application. Each application should have the following:

  1. A letter describing your experience and strengths as a teacher of writing or someone who employs writing to teaching a content area.
  2. A resume or curriculum vitae.
  3. A letter of recommendation and support from your principal or other district official indicating administrative support for your efforts to develop a writing program in your classroom and committing to two days of release time for you each year for writing project follow-up meetings, in addition to any other release time provided by the teacher's contract. Selected institute participants will be notified in April. OWP Fellowships are acknowledged with a letter of confirmation, a contract, maps, and additional information.
