Application Process & Requirements
The Institute is open to classroom teachers, K-16. Each application must include:

A letter describing your experience and strengths as a teacher of writing or someone who employs writing to teaching a content area.
A current resume or curriculum vitae.
A letter of recommendation and support from your principal or other district official indicating administrative support for your efforts to develop a writing program in your classroom and committing to two days of release time for you each year for writing project follow-up meetings, in addition to any other release time provided by the teacher's contract. Selected Institute participants will be notified as soon as possible. OWP fellowships are acknowledged with a letter of confirmation, the date for a required orientation meeting, a contract, maps, and additional information.

IMPORTANT NOTE: First-time fellowship recipients are required to pay the full summer tuition. The stipend is to help cover that cost.
