Minutes
October 19, 2004

 

Present:   Helen Moore, Vickie Lee, Sue Cain, Ryan Platt, Jeff Witten, Robin Weinman (for Jeff Dunbar)

 

The meeting was called to order at 2pm.   A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes from August.

 

There was no one present to report on 801's or non-801's.

 

No new Safety Grams were received.

 

It was noted that the bush on University Blvd did not look as if it had been trimmed, although Helen indicated she'd been told it had been.

 

Ryan mentioned the padding of the perimeter the outdoor VB courts will continue to be investigated and that fundraising will be done Winter & Spring terms.

 

The Building Inspection Check-sheet was passed out for review.   There was a minor wording change suggested and Helen will pass the revised sheet on to Steve Wadner.

 

The question was asked what we might do if we found a hole in the ground (i.e., a tripping hazard) and it was suggested that a Safety Gram be filled out, thus notifying the committee of the problem.

 

Mike Rhodes is in the process of completing the rest of the information for Building Managers.

 

Helen will check with Rosemary Powers regarding this committee's level of involvement with the Let Their Be Light tour.

 

A question arose about the runoff from the 8th Street hill de-icing project and whether that run-off might create its own hazard if it pools and freezes.   Helen will check with Marv Wigle.

 

Groundbreaking on the new dorms should happen soon.   Issues regarding the safety perimeter around the construction site will be something this committee will need to stay on top of.

 

The Inlow remodel project is now 3rd or 4th on a list of 127 projects that the Chancellor's Office has received.   It is slated to begin July 1, 2005.

 

The next meeting is scheduled for November 9th …same time…same place.
