None.

New Safety Grams
-Max Moffit reported that a golf cart is parked on the Hoke loading dock in front of the dumpster creating a hazard for people trying to use the dumpster. Irene checked with Don Calder and discovered that the golf cart is used by food service for catering around campus. Linda will work with food service to try to find a different location to store the golf cart. Bob suggested a spot by the Ackerman Annex.
-Gary Moses reported a student racing a mountain bike on the sidewalk in the area between Zabel Hall and Hoke Hall creating a hazard to pedestrians. He described the rider and bike and said the rider carried the bike into Alikut Hall. Irene referred the incident to Security and John will take the issue to the next Alikut Staff meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Old Safety Grams
-8th Street hill issue is still in progress.
-Bob is continuing to monitor the issue regarding ashes dumped in water drain behind Loso Hall and will keep the committee informed of any future problems.
-A cover is still needed around the gas meter on the Loso Hall loading dock. Bob will follow-up.
-Irene reported that the Badgley Hall parking lot tripping hazard probably won't be repaired since the parking lot will be replaced with the completion of the new Science Center. Matt Graves will have the ruts painted with high visibility paint to help alleviate the hazard.
-Fire alarms in Quinn are being serviced.
-Status report and/or follow-up still needed on ice issue at the north entrance to Loso Hall and the additional light switches requested in the Ackerman stairwells.

The results from the Let There Be Light tour were distributed and the problem areas were discussed. The results will be posted on the Safety Committee web page.

Irene is drafting a memo to Vice President Morgan clarifying the reasons for the campus weapons policy. The initial reason behind creating a weapons policy stemmed from several incidents in the library involving people carrying (or planning to carry) concealed weapons into the building. The memo will also clarify the intent of the trigger lock clause in the document. If a weapon is visible in a vehicle then it must have a trigger lock.

Question was raised about who is responsible for refilling first aid kits around campus. Travis had taken care of them in the past. Irene will work with the building managers to make sure all kits are kept well supplied.

Question was raised about who is now doing building inspections. Irene will pursue issue with Security personnel.

Bob reported that the Loso Hall shop area is getting busy, but things seem to be going quite well. He is updating safety measures on a on-going basis.

Next meeting is scheduled for December 10, 2002 at 2:00pm.
