NEW BUSINESS

Minutes from last meeting approved as submitted.

New 801s (Workman Comp report)

One fall on ice - No time lost
Vehicle Accident, Student and Employee - Lost time
Torn Thumb

Brett reported on a recent accident where a student stepped in an irrigation hole on Inlow Hall lawn and was injured. She was transported to Grande Ronde Hospital and her injury required 130 stitches. It appears that the cover to the irrigation hole had come off and was carried away, possibly by a dog (the lid resembles a Frisbee). Physical Plant personnel are pursuing options to insure that the lids cannot be removed unintentionally.

Safety Grams

McKenzie Stage Curtains no longer meet fire codes. They are twelve years old and have a ten-year fire retardant life span. The Safety Gram has been forwarded to Vice President Morgan.
The ice problem at the north entrance of Loso Hall has been assigned to Mike Rhodes and corrective action will be taken in the spring.
Irene will send a note to infoline and eastalk regarding the on-line Safety Gram.

Irene and Travis reported that they would set up a meeting with the Building Managers to plan for a paper disaster drill during Spring Term.

Irene and Travis will set up another viewing of the Cal State Northridge earthquake video.

Rob asked if any committee members would be interested in attending athletic games to look for safety issues. The members agreed that it is a good idea. Rob will furnish admission passes for the members who are interested and will bring schedules for Baseball and Softball to the next meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

Draft Disaster Plan was distributed. Committee members should review and forward any final changes and/or corrections to Irene.

Draft Weapons Policy was distributed for final review. Committee unanimously agreed to submit the document to Vice President Morgan for approval.

Brett discussed the importance of a resolution to the 8th Street hill issue. He stressed that this is a major liability for the University and that signage such as "sled at your own risk" should be placed immediately.

Next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2002 at 3:00pm.
