MINUTES
March 14, 2001

NEW BUSINESS

Minutes from February 14, 2001 meeting approved as read.

New 801s (Workman Comp report). Two filed: one for a bruised tailbone and one for back strain.

No new Safety Grams.
Travis reported that the safety grams from last meeting have been forwarded to John Evers and he will be following up on them. Travis also reported that the University is responsible for maintaining the Eighth Street hill and he is looking into the possibility of installing handrails along the sidewalk.

The State Disaster Drill planned for April 11th was discussed. It was decided that Eastern's disaster drill will start at 9:30am and will involve the entire campus. Travis will put together some informational materials with instructions on what to do in case of an actual disaster. The building managers (and possibly safety committee members) will be available at various buildings to help distribute these materials. Helen will contact Grande Ronde Hospital, La Grande School District, Union County and the City of La Grande to discuss what Disaster Drill policies each agency currently has in place. Old Business Disaster Plan Disaster plan is still in progress. An old copy of a previous disaster plan was discovered and is being reviewed by Travis and Irene.

Student Employee Supervisor Meeting
Irene will let us know when the meeting is scheduled.

Building Mangers
Safety Committee will contact candidates for needed building mangers. Irene and Travis will meet with Dawna Flanagan (Ackerman) and Cheri Jimmy (Zabel) after this meeting to invite them to serve. It is hoped to have building managers in place for each building before the Disaster Drill on April 11.

Loso Shop Tech
Irene is still researching different options for a permanent solution to the Loso Shop supervisor issue. Theatre Shop Tech classification is a possiblity - it is a salary range 15.

Personal Safety Issues
Irene is looking at the issue of violence on campus and will bring some suggestions for how to deal with the problem to a future meeting.
