-Women's locker room has numerous safety issues, including benches that
are not secured to floor and no non-slip strips in and around the shower
area. Irene will contact Rob Cashell regarding this Safety Gram.
-Ackerman lighting Safety Gram has still not been addressed. Irene will
revisit the issue with Physical Plant personnel.
-Problem with ice on walk at north Loso Hall entrance is supposed to be
addressed this summer. Irene will follow up on that as well.
June is National Safety Month. Due to the numerous activities associated with the end of the academic year, no additional activities are planned.
Sue Rayburn has been appointed the director of Hazardous Materials Management for Eastern. She will work with various departments to help set up timelines for proper disposal of Hazardous Materials.
Concern was raised regarding the maximum size (occupancy) of campus classrooms and whether the allowable size is actually safe. The Safety Committee will look into the issue over the summer.
OLD BUSINESS
Campus evacuation drill was deemed a success. The gate by KEOL will need to be opened for the next drill (or in case of an actual emergency/evacuation). It was suggested that before our next drill, more information be disseminated to the students, possibly via The Voice or KEOL. Another idea is to run the Northridge tape over and over in the Hoke Main Lounge shortly before the actual drill.
The need for a paper drill in the near future was also discussed.
Status of various campus department's Disaster and Recovery
Plans was discussed.
-Sue Rayburn has located a copy of the Laboratory Chemical Hygiene Plan
(for Chemistry Stores) that was produced in 1994. She will try to get it
scanned into a word processing program so that it will be easier to update.
-Residence Life will finish developing their plan over the summer. -Information
Technology plan is in progress.
-Other departments are starting the process of creating their individual
Disaster and Recovery Plans. Irene will follow up.
Next meeting is scheduled for June 11, 2002 at 2:00pm.
