MINUTES
August 20, 2002

Present: Irene Jerome, Sue Rayburn, Linda Overlock, John Barresse, Jeff McDonald, and Sue Cain.

Absent: Rob Cashell Bob Gilmore and Helen Moore.

NEW BUSINESS

Discussion regarding difficulty for some members to attend due to time constraints.

Minutes from last meeting approved as submitted.

No new 801s

New Safety Grams
- Discussion regarding the mess behind Loso Hall. Doug Kaigler promises that when Bob Gilmore returns they will clean up the mess.

It was discussed who the new safety officer might be. Irene will do accident reports for now.

OLD BUSINESS

Irene discussed the difficulty in trying to educate/inform supervisors and staff regarding Worker's Compensation claims, and procedures. She will continue to try to accomplish.

Irene reported regarding the 801 report involving the hedge trimmer, which has no blade guard. She will recommend that they not use that particular trimmer any longer, and that they purchase another one.

Sue Rayburn inquired about the rut in the Badgley parking lot. Irene will check.

Irene contacted Vice President Darlene Morgan regarding the Campus Weapons Policy. It has been accepted.

Discussion regarding posting of the policy on web sites, dorms, etc.

The Disaster Plan has also been accepted.

Also noted that the Safety Committee recommendation was to close the Grand Staircase, and that the 8th Street hill be closed to sledding, or post sign to sled at own risk.

Sue Rayburn mentioned that Badgley has a temporary handicap access made of plywood and boards. Suggested that some type of non-skid material be applied to keep it from being so slick this winter.
