NEW BUSINESS

Approval of minutes from August 14th meeting tabled - not all members had received a copy.

No New 801s (Workman Comp report)
One report of aggravation of an old injury.
One older case may result in back surgery.

No new Safety Grams.
The Safety Gram will be on the Safety Committee Web page in the near future. It can be completed on line and will forward to Travis and Irene for action.

OLD BUSINESS

Irene brought a copy of the EOU Safety Plan to share with the committee members. She also shared a guide for creating a document on how to deal with violence in the workplace. Once the Disaster Plan is completed, the Safety Committee will begin work on a document dealing with violence in the workplace.

Rob Cashell has expressed interest in serving on the Safety Committee. The committee agreed that he would be a valuable member. Irene will invite Rob to replace April Farlow as the representative from the Physical Education area. Irene will talk to Brett Timm regarding the importance of his attendance at our meetings.

The Building Manager training that was scheduled for today has been postponed until October 23rd at 11:00am. Irene and Travis will coordinate with the building managers to insure as high a level of participation as possible. Carol Franks and Matt Graves will address responsibilities of building managers and Irene will address safety issues.

Loso Hall Shop Tech position has been finalized and will be presented to Vice President Morgan to handle the funding issues after which Dean Swanger will present the proposal to the cabinet.

Travis made safety presentation to HeadStart personnel earlier this month and will make a similar presentation to DDE personnel from the outlying areas next week.

Next meeting is scheduled for October 23, 2001 at 10:00 in Hoke 301, just before the Building Mangers' training session. Safety Committee members are asked to attend the Building Managers' training, if possible.
