Study guide for the final

Sex trafficking, Juarez

This will come from Farr's book, Landesmann's article, and our discussions in class. I would focus especially on some of the forces driving trafficking that we discussed, and how the networks are structured. Also the geography of sex trafficking is important (source and destination countries, etc.). Then, consider how trafficking can be addressed, using some of the tools and concepts we've talked about in the second half of the course (especially related to your group term projects).

Also, be familiar with the Juarez situation, what some of the possible causes are, and how some of the big processes we've talked about in class are involved (e.g., migration, globalization).

Practice

  • Be able to use your proposals, the trafficking or Juarez examples to discuss various parts of development practice we've covered in class (e.g., principles, problem ID).
