Beckie Thompson beckiethompson@hotmail.com Beckie is an adjunct faculty/guest choreographer who began training in ballet at the age of 3 and was dancing professionally by her teens. She has danced with the former Portland Ballet Theatre and Portland Repertory Theatre with special solo appearances in My Fair Lady, Kiss Me Kate, and The Music Man to name a few. She opened Beckie's Studio of Dance in 1980 and coached and choreographed the La Grande High School's Competitive Dance Team for ten years. She has been resident choreographer and instructor for the Eastern Oregon University Theatre Department since 1994. Dance Education: 1955-1974 Ballet training in Cecchetti method with French and Russian influence, Tap and Jazz Broadway style. Schools and Academies: Hildegards, Richard Billings, Stite's Center and The Academy of Dance Arts. Master Classes include: San Francisco Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, New York City Ballet, P.N.W.B., Joffrey, and O.B.T. Professional Certificates: 1971 certificates in Dance Education-Academy of Dance Arts/Dance USA ( Out of Warrick, NJ) Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, and Acrobatics. 1972 La Vonn Agency - Finishing and Professional Modeling Certificates. |
