Caitlin O'Brien Caitlin O'Brien was born in Portland, OR in 1982. She first started perfoming on the stage at the age of two at the Elizabeth Abts Academy of Dance. Then at the age of three she started taking Baton twirling from her mother Maureen. Her family moved to La Grande when she was four and her mother started coaching the Pizzaz Baton Team. In addition to Baton Caitlin also took ballet and tap at Beckie's Studio of Dance. Caitlin really enjoyed being on stage so she joined the choir in Middle School. But because of the administrations lack of attention to her choices they put her in the Band/Choir class. She was forced to learn an instrument! Caitlin thought that the flute was easy so she taught herself how to play. Then in high school she joined the marching band. It was in her Sophomore year that she really had an interest in theatre. She was the Stage Manager and Costume Mistress of Once Upon a Mattress . She also joined the percussion class. Her Junior year she was the Student Director of West Side Story . In her Senior year she was a Hot Box Dancer in Guys and Dolls and Frau Schimdt in The Sound of Music . Music became a big part of her life throughout High School and she looked up to her teacher Jim Howell. At Eastern, Caitlin is double majoring in Music Education, emphasis in percussion, and Theatre. She played in the pit for The Scarlet Pimpernel, played percussion and tapped in Nunsense, and was a momma in The Fiddler on the Roof. This year Caitlin was the Asst. Stage Manager of Communicating Doors. She really enjoys stage managing and also enjoys acting. She would like to one day teach music and maybe theatre. |
