BADGLEY ENDOWMENT FUND

Background Information:

The BADGLEY ENDOWMENT FUND was created by a generous donation from Esther Badgley, wife of long-time physics professor Ralph Badgley in 1994. This fund has been used to support the Rebarrow Research Forest, and to purchase many special equipment items to enhance teaching at Eastern. The FUND committee consists of the following individuals: Jay Van Tassell (Geology), Jeff Woodford (Chemistry), Karen Antell (Biology), David Allen (Mathematics), Tom Herrmann (Physics).

The BADGLEY ENDOWMENT FUND committee seeks applications each fall from faculty in the following disciplines:
Biology
Chemistry
Geology/General Science
Physics
Mathematics

Timeline for proposals for academic year 2006-2007:

18 October 2006: First Call for Proposals
30 October 2006: Second Call for Proposals
13 November 2006: Deadline for proposal submission
24 November 2006: Notification of awards

Proposals should be sumitted in hard copy to Karen Antell, Science Office, Badgley Hall by the deadline for consideration by the committee.

Agreement Establishing the Badgley Endowment Fund

I. AGREEMENT

This agreement and the gift of $133,548 establish the BADGLEY ENDOWMENT FUND in the Eastern Oregon State College Foundation.

The FUND will be a permanenetly endowed sum in the EOSC Foundation.

II. USE

The net earnings from the BADGLEY ENDOWMENT FUND will be used in this way:

1. To further programs in the biological and physical sciences and mathematics through the purchase and maintenance of equipment;

2. To maintain and develop the Rebarrow Research Forest.

III. ADMINISTRATION

Administration of the FUND and annual expenditures from the FUND will be determined:

1. By a committee appointed by the President of the College. The committee will be made up of representatives from the disciplines of mathematics, biological and physical sciences appointed by the President of the College

2. With the understanding that all expenditures from the FUND will be approved by the President of the College or the President's delegate.
