Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area
REGULATIONS
Big game and game bird hunting are allowed according to specific regulations listed below. An entry permit is required at all times except during authorized hunting seasons. The wildlife area is closed between 10 PM and 4 AM. Possession or use of shot other than federally approved nontoxic shot is prohibited at all times, except for youth deer hunts. All portions of the area are open to hunting on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Martin Luther King Day during the pheasant, quail, partridge and waterfowl seasons with the following exceptions:
East of Foothill Road:
· Posted refuge areas are closed to all entry during authorized hunting seasons,
except to retrieve lawfully taken wildlife or by permit.
· Firearms are prohibited in refuge areas.
· Safety zones are closed to hunting.
· Hunting for big game is prohibited, except for youth deer hunters as outlined
in the Big Game Regulations.
West of Foothill Road:
· Open to year round access and hunting during authorized hunting seasons. Motorized
vehicle travel restricted to open roads.
· Open for dog training August 1 until the opening of pheasant season.
Peach Road Fishing Area:
· Area open as posted. See current Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations.
GENERAL HUNTING REGULATIONS NOTE:
A few of the important hunting regulations are summarized below. For a complete
copy of all state laws and federal regulations, consult the current copy of
Oregon Game Bird Regulations, Oregon Administrative Rules, The Oregon Wildlife
Code and Federal Migratory Bird Hunting Regulations.
DISGUISING SEX
· No one may disguise the sex or kind of any game bird.
· The feathered head must be left attached to all upland game birds in the field
or while in transit.
· The head or one fully feathered wing must be left attached to all migratory
waterfowl in the field or while in transit.
WASTE
· All game birds killed or crippled must be retrieved, if possible, and kept
by the hunter in the field. All crippled birds reduced to possession must be
immediately killed. Waste means to allow any edible portion of any game bird
to be rendered unfit for human consumption, or to fail to retrieve edible portions
except internal organs of such game birds from the field.
OTHER RESTRICTIONS
No one may:
· Shoot from or across a public road, posted safety zone or railroad right-of-way.
· Hunt in or enter with a loaded firearm, any safety zones created and posted
by the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
· Disturb, damage, remove, alter or possess any official Department of Fish
and Wildlife sign.
· Permit dogs to run at large or train dogs in game bird nesting habitat during
the months of April through July, except as authorized by the Fish and Wildlife
Commission.
